Not every employer is required to complete OSHA recordkeeping. So, before you go through the process of learning how to log your recordable incidents, you should first find out if you are required to do so.

According to OSHA, employers with more than 10 employees who are not in partially exempt industries are required to maintain recordkeeping logs.

Industries that are partially exempt from recordkeeping are generally low-risk industries, such as finance, insurance or real estate. Are you unsure whether your industry is classified as being partially exempt? The full list of partially exempt industries can be found in OSHA's Appendix A to 29 CFR 1904.
